Ambassador John E. Lange (Ret.) is the Senior Fellow for Global Health Diplomacy at the United Nations Foundation in Washington, DC. From 2009 to 2013, he worked on global health issues in Africa for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. His 28-year career in the Foreign Service at the U.S. Department of State includes serving as the Special Representative on Avian and Pandemic Influenza; Deputy Inspector General; Deputy U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator at the inception of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief; and Associate Dean in the Leadership and Management School of the Foreign Service Institute. He served as the U.S. Ambassador to Botswana 1999-2002. Prior to joining the diplomatic service in 1981, Lange worked for five years at the United Nations Association of the USA in New York. He has an M.S. in national security strategy from the National War College (1996), a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School (1975), and a B.A. in political science from the U。大学 的 Wisconsin-Madison (1971).
